We all know there are multitudes of foods that are bad for our teeth. However, there are a lot of foods that are actually good for your teeth as well. If you smile is important to you and you also love a good meal now and then, we suggest you eat some of the following foods and kill two birds with one stone.

  1. Apples
You know what they say: An apple a day keeps the doctor away! Well, the same can be said for the dentist. The crisp outer peel of the apple strengthens gums and the amount of water contained in this fruit will wash away plaque and bacteria in your mouth.
  2. Cheese
You may already know that cheese contains calcium which is good for your teeth. However, keep in mind that the whiter the cheese the more calcium it contains and the better it is for your smile.
  3. Celery and Carrots
Both of these vegetables, like apples, have high water content which when consumed often can help to eliminate surface stains from your teeth.
  4. Oranges
Large amounts of citrus can actually damage your teeth as it removes the enamel. However, in small doses citrus can help to whiten your teeth as it kills bacteria and removes food debris.
  5. Onions
The colorless interior of an onion is great for teeth as it cannot stain your teeth(even though onions can give you less than desirable breath). Make sure to brush right after consuming.
  6. Nuts
Nuts are basically nature’s toothbrush. The outside surface of the nut works to remove any plaque or stains present on your teeth.
  7. Pears
This fruit will neutralize odor-causing and staining bacteria. Pears also help to clean out debris from your mouth as well.
  8. Yogurt
Yogurt is known to be high in calcium and therefore works to strengthen your teeth over time. The same can be said for milk.
  9. Broccoli
Working like a toothbrush, the florets of broccoli will make your teeth look cleaner and brighter after you indulge in some of this delicious vegetable.
  10. Strawberries
This fruit contains malic acid which is a natural astringent and will gradually remove or make less visible any discoloration on your teeth.
