Fun Fruit Recipes

Happy July! This month we celebrate the day the United States adopted the Declaration of Independence and became a free country.

On this momentous summer occasion, we know that everyone likes to celebrate by being outdoors, having picnics and barbecues, and eventually watching the fireworks.

This year, we thought it would be fun to provide a few ways that our staff here at Sterling Dental Center adds fun to their Fourth of July celebrations.

Fruit Cake

No, not the traditional fruit cake that is given out around the Holidays. This cake takes a twist on a regular cake and instead of a super sweet frosting, uses fruit as the topping! You can do a regular vanilla sheet cake, or a Bundt cake, or any cake that you like. Once you have a base, play around with various blue and red fruits to give your dessert that patriotic feel. Our favorites are blueberries and strawberries, but you could also use blackberries, raspberries, or cherries.

Fruit Pops

The Fourth of July tends to be really warm, especially in the Washington D.C. area, so a fun sweet treat is a fruit pop. Just like the cake, there are so many variations of this! You could use water or juice to hold your fruit, but our favorite is to use yogurt and then layer in your choice of red or blue fruit. With a vanilla yogurt this creates a great tasting treat that is also patriotic!

Fruit Salad

You can’t go wrong with a standard red, white, and blue fruit salad! For this tasty treat, we love the combination of watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas, but go crazy and come up with a combo that everyone will love! The best thing is that this takes minutes to put together and provides a healthy side or dessert option.

Whether you hang out with friends or venture into Washington D.C., Sterling Dental Center wishes you a happy and safe Fourth of July! After the festivities, make sure to call us to set up your biannual cleaning
