There is something very ominous about the toothpaste aisle at the grocery store. With so many options when it comes to brands and the types of results they promise, how are you ever supposed to know if you are purchasing the best toothpaste for your teeth?
Obviously, all toothpastes are going to prevent cavities from forming in your mouth if you are brushing the right way daily. The entire purpose of toothpaste is to remove plaque and food particles from your mouth and teeth and in this aspect, all toothpastes are essentially the same.
Some toothpastes will claim that they can whiten your teeth and to some degree this is true. They would remove surface stains from your teeth but these results would not be long term and do not work as well as having your teeth whitened at the dentist’s office would.
If a toothpaste claims to be anti-bacterial this means that it includes the ingredient, triclosan, which works to prevent bacterial infections but may not always work to fight gum disease as promised.
Natural toothpastes have also become extremely popular recently. If your teeth are sensitive and you tend to feel pain when using other toothpastes with chemicals in them, then natural toothpastes are probably your best bet.
