In our last post, we introduced the newest member of the Sterling Dental Center family: the Solea dental laser.

The beauty of the Solea dental laser is how it improves the patient experience. We know that one of the most stressful parts of a dental appointment / procedure is the anesthesia and the needles that go along with it.

With Solea, we can erase that anxiety by instead using a laser. No needles, no anesthesia, no pain. In addition to all that, the laser is soundless, reducing the anxiety experienced when you hear all of the tools but aren’t able to see exactly how they are being used.

Here are some of the procedures that will be done using the Solea dental laser.

Cavity preparation
For cavity prep, we will use the laser to remove diseased tissue and make the tooth the right form for the cavity filling.

Crown preparation
We will also use the laser for crown prep. Using the laser, we will prepare (shape/reduce) the tooth structure, take an impression of the tooth, and then place a temporary crown.

Crown lengthening
If there is not enough tooth above the gum for a filling or crown, we will use the laser to remove

Dental Inlays and Onlays
When the chewing surface of your tooth needs to be repaired, we will do an inlay or an onlay. With an inlay, the tooth structure is replaced within the cusp tip. With an onlay, the entire chewing surface (including one or more cusp) is covered. Materials used include porcelain, resin, and gold. Inlays and onlays are created outside of the dental office, but we will put them in for you.

Removing Fillings
Occasionally old fillings will need to be removed and replaced. We will use the Solea laser to take out the old amalgams or composites.

If you have periodontal disease or a gum condition that needs correction, a gingivectomy may be the solution. While this procedure has been done in the past by a scalpel, we will use the Solea laser to trim and remove the diseased tissue. After that, we will reattach the gums with sutures.

At Sterling Dental Center, we cannot wait for our patients to come in and experience a no pain and no anesthesia procedure. Call us today to schedule your appointment!
