Our area has not been immune from the pressure of COVID-19 and the restrictions on businesses, especially those for restaurants. We’ve seen a lot of local restaurants close this year. 

However, we recently found three new local restaurants that have opened this summer and we can’t wait to try them! 

1. Sourdoughnuts

What: A woman owned bakery, specializing in gluten-free doughnuts and baked goods
Where: Reston, VA (delivery only)
Menu Items: Gluten-free doughnuts, gluten-free doughnut holes, yeasted doughnut holes, gluten-free cinnamon roll and much more 
Special: Free deliveries with a purchase of $25 (within 6 miles)

At this time, they can only accommodate deliveries within a 12-mile radius, so if that’s you, step up your Saturday with a Sourdoughnuts delivery! 

2. Banh Mi Kim Lan Vietnamese Sandwiches

What: A banh mi sandwich shop
Where: Chantilly, VA (indoor, outdoor seating)
Menu Items: Traditional banh mi sandwiches like Banh Mi Dac Biet (Jambon, Vietnamese ham, pork roll, and pate), Banh Mi Xa Xiu (barbeque pork), smoothies, and slushies
Review: “I got the grilled pork banh mi for $5.50. It was delicious! All the parts were good: the bread was crusty and chewy, the grilled pork was flavorful, the veggies were fresh and crunchy.” 

While it may not be the best banh mi in the area, it is a nice alternative for those who don’t want to drive all the way to Eden Center in Fall Church.

3. Locals Tacos and Tequila

What: Local taco and tequila sports bar
Where: Sterling, VA (indoor seating, outdoor seating, take out)
Menu Items: Starters, traditional tacos, specialty tacos, burritos, fajitas, salads, and desserts
Review: “Their tacos are fresh and all ingredients are high quality and cooked well. There aren’t a lot of frills, but they’re legit, authentic tacos!”
Special: On Tuesdays they have ½ price margaritas
