5 Spots to See Fireworks this Fourth
Living in Washington D.C. or outside (Northern VA, Maryland) is so convenient, especially this time of year. During holidays like the Fourth of July, there are so many free entertainment options within a short drive/walk.
One of the signature events of the Fourth of July is the Washington D.C. concert and fireworks. Here are five places to see the fireworks this year with your family.
1 – On the Mall
It may be crowded as this is one of the most popular spots to view fireworks, but it is a favorite. Find a spot on the mall and have a picnic with your friends and family prior to the fireworks. Hint: get close to the monuments: Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, or the Lincoln Memorial.
2 – Near the River
Get close to the Potomac River for a very picturesque view of the fireworks. You’ll get two shows in one: the beautiful background of the river as well as the show. Hint: get close to the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial for the best view.
3 – On the River
What could be better than being near the Potomac River? How about on it! There are several cruise companies that have fireworks cruises. We guarantee this will make for a memorable and unique Fourth of July. Hint: check out City Cruises or Monumental Boat Tours to see what cruises they offer.
4 – At a Bar
Mix partying with viewing at one of the many D.C. rooftop bars that will be open. This option is great for people who want food and beverages taken care of for them. Hint: Check out the POV Rooftop Lounge and Terrace, La Vie, or the Summit Rooftop at the Conrad Hotel.
5 – On the trail
If you want to make an entire day out of the Fourth, what about renting (or bringing your own) bikes and cycling on the Mount Vernon Trail. You can stop and find a great view just off of the trail. Then when the show is done, just bike back!
Hint: If you need bikes, we recommend Unlimited Biking or Capital Bikeshare for renting bikes.
The Fourth of July is rapidly approaching, and we hope that no matter what you choose to do, you have a relaxing and safe holiday with your loved ones.
