Valentine's Day at the Dentist

As we usher in the new year, we have a holiday right away in February. That’s right, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! The flower, card, and candy industries have all convinced us that this is the day we spend showering our loved ones with gifts and extra love. While those gifts can be a great way to show your love, Sterling Dental Center has come up with another fun way to spend Valentine’s Day with your loved one.

Morning Brushing Session

Start your Valentine’s Day off with a group tooth brushing session. Play some fun music and make sure everyone brushes for the whole two minutes! If you have kids, make a game out of it so it is even more fun. Don’t forget to use a fluoride mouthwash after.

Annual Dental Checkup

Make an appointment for your and your significant other (and kids!) to get your annual checkup. Nothing says romance like a his and hers dental appointment. We’ll brush your teeth, check for cavities, and do x-rays if needed. Going with a loved one can be great, especially if one of you suffers from dental anxiety. Plus, you’ll have some time in the waiting room to spend reading a book or catching up on social media.

Buying Toothbrushes

After your dental appointment, you will be reminded that you need to replace your toothbrush every three months. You’ll probably remember that it has been well over three months since you last changed your toothbrush. Take your loved one with you to go get new toothbrushes. If you have kids, pick out some fun character themed toothbrushes to help encourage them to brush their teeth.

If you’re feeling fancy, upgrade to an electric toothbrush. There are a lot of really good options out there! Don’t forget to stock up on toothpaste and floss while you are out.

Evening Flossing and Brushing

Finish the evening strong with a group flossing and brushing session. It is important to make flossing daily a habit so start today! While you’re unwinding at the end of the night with your favorite Netflix show, bust out some of that new floss and go to town.

In all seriousness, we hope you have a great Valentine’s Day with your loved ones and if you don’t do ALL of our fun suggestions, we do hope that you’ll do one. Yes, you may not want to spend your Valentine’s Day at the dentist, but don’t forget to make an appointment for your checkup! Call Sterling Dental Center today to schedule your next appointment.
