5 Reasons Your Teeth Hurt
Toothaches. One of the most annoying frustrations people experience. For some reason, there is nothing quite like tooth pain. Even the toughest of people can be undone by a persistent ache in their mouth.
There are so many reasons that your teeth could be hurting and when in doubt it is always best to see a dental professional. If you have constant toothaches, don’t hesitate to call Sterling Dental Center.
Here are some of the reasons your teeth could be hurting.
1 - Grinding Your Teeth
Tooth grinding is a common problem that some people don’t know they have. But, if you suffer from stress or a sleep disorder, it is likely that you grind your teeth. When you grind your teeth you wear down the enamel and you could get a crack in your teeth, which could cause pain and headaches.
2 - Gum Disease
Another reason your teeth might hurt is gum disease. With gum disease , your gums recede which leave the bottom of your teeth open to infections and other issues.
3 - Wisdom Teeth
Any time you are teething, your teeth hurt. If you still have wisdom teeth (that are not impacted) they could be coming in and causing you unnecessary pain.
4 - Cracks and Cavities
The dreaded C words in the dental world. If you have a crack in your tooth, it leaves the inner sensitive layers exposed thus leading to infections and yes, pain! A cavity is bacteria that has built up on your teeth, wearing down the enamel and creating a hole. When left untreated, cavities can also cause tooth pain.
5 - Other Issues
Unfortunately, your teeth can hurt when there is something else going on in your head. For example, if you have a migraine or a sinus infection, you are likely to have some teeth pain as well. We had a patient who without fail always had upper teeth pain in one side of her face when she had a sinus infection. At first she thought something was wrong with her teeth, but now she knows it’s just an unfortunate side effect of the sinus infection.
Toothaches can be a real pain and unless you know for certain they are related to a headache or sinus infection, they could be an indicator that something else is going on. Don’t live with tooth pain for long, call Sterling Dental Center today!
