When people think of the dentist, they think of a place where you go to get your teeth cleaned or worse, a place to get cavities filled or a root canal.

However, at Sterling Dental Center, we also offer other services, including teeth whitening. There are many ways to whiten your teeth, and get that smile that you’ve been dreaming about.

Here are three ways to get that bright white smile you’ve been thinking about.

1- Over the Counter Remedies

Over the years, over the counter teeth whitening remedies have gotten better and more popular. One of the most common options is to use a whitening toothpaste every day. While there are some whitening components within the toothpaste, they are not typically strong enough to have quick results. Over time though, you will start to notice a slight difference.

Another popular option is the at home whitening strips. These strips are usually thin and coated with peroxide whitening gel. Results from the strips can last up to four months.

At the end of the day, both options are not quick fixes and since they are not personalized they may not have quite the results you are looking for.

2- Tray-Based Whitener

A more customizable option is a tray-based whitener. This option requires a dental visit, where we would take an impression of your teeth to make fully customized trays. We then fill a tray with a peroxide bleaching gel. You would then wear the trays for a certain period of time, depending on your starting shade and desired shade of whiteness.

With this option, the whitening gel has maximum contact with your teeth and minimal contact with your gums!

3- In Office Whitening

The quickest way to whiten your teeth is with in office whitening. With this option, you come to the office and we apply a whitening agent directly to your teeth combined with heat or a light. In office whitening can show results in as little as one visit. For more dramatic results, you will need multiple visits.

While it the quickest option, it is also the most expensive option.

Over the counter options are more cost effective than other options but will not have as dramatic or quick results. If you want a lasting whitening effect, call Sterling Dental Center today to go over your options!
